Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam University, Thiruvananthapuram. Mangalam College of Engineering is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an 'A' Grade on a point scale of 3.24 out of 4 in the 2nd Cycle in 2023. Also, four departments of Mangalam namely CE, CSE, ECE, and ME are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). MLM is promoted by the Mangalam Educational Society, with a mission to bring out leaders for a technology-driven environment. The institute offers B. Tech. programme in seven areas of technology, M.Tech programme in five disciplines, MCA, MBA, and PhD. programme in all branches of engineering, science and management.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Mangalam College of Engineering, was formed in 2002. The first undergraduate batch rolled out in the year 2006. Currently the department has nearly 480 undergraduate students (BTech) and nearly 36 postgraduate (M.Tech)students .
The Department provides an outstanding research environment complemented by superior teaching for its students to flourish in. Graduates from the department are heavily recruited by both academia and industry. All over the world, ex-students of the Department occupy top positions in both academia and industry.
