Mangalam Educational Institutions, Ettumanoor was founded by late Mr. M.C Varghese. Mangalam College of Engineering (MLMCE) is one among them. MLMCE is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. It stands supreme in technical education with excellence and quality in education. In keeping with MLM's goal of excellence, the academic programs are supported by well experienced and dedicated faculty, committed to equip the student with knowledge and skills need for succeeding in today's rapidly changing world. The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), accredited by National Board of accreditation (NBA) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute offers B. Tech. programme in seven areas of technology, M.Tech programme in five disciplines, MBA, and PhD. programme in all branches of engineering, science and management.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Mangalam College of Engineering, was formed in 2002. The first undergraduate batch rolled out in the year 2006. Currently the department has nearly 420 undergraduate students (BTech) and nearly 36 postgraduate (M.Tech)students .
The Department provides an outstanding research environment complemented by superior teaching for its students to flourish in. Graduates from the department are heavily recruited by both academia and industry. All over the world, ex-students of the Department occupy top positions in both academia and industry.
